Due to the bad snow storms that hit Colorado, my mom was a day delayed in arriving here. Now she is here and the kids couldn’t be happier!! She rented a cabin nearby where we are staying and we are enjoying being able to spread out in it! Even though the cabin is small, to us it feels very spacious! So for the next few days we are going to really love taking over her cabin. 🙂
We have always lived within a few miles of my mom and seen her pretty much everyday. Now that we are living on the road, we are sadly not able to see her like we use to. I have always been super close to my mom and she has always been very involved with my children. I grew up having a close relationship with my grandparents. (still do!) So I LOVE seeing my children have a sweet bond with their grandparents. It means a lot to us that my mom made the effort to fly out here from Florida.
Our first day together, the weather was actually beautiful! Thank you Jesus! It has been SO yucky here the past few days. We were pleasantly surprised to have clear sunny skies today. Everyone was eager to head out and spend the afternoon with my mom at a local hiking area. What a fun time we had! My children had no fear as they climbed every rock they could fine! The kids loved playing in the snow that was still left on the ground. Every few minutes you would hear someone yell out as they would get clobbered with a giant snowball! Again, it is always evident we are from out of town, because everyone else is trying to avoid the snow, and we run straight to it!
After we wore out all the kids from hiking the mountain, we went home. We all relaxed a little before my sweet mom took us all out to dinner. The night ended with my mom reading “The Black Stallion” to the kids. It warms my heart to see my children with their Nana. These moments, these memories, are so precious! All is well when Nana is here.
P.s. All the kids, except the baby are sleeping at my mom’s cabin while she is here. Praise the LORD we are getting a little break! Does she have to leave? Maybe the snow storms will come again and her trip home will get cancelled….forever. 🙂
