We LOVE the kids can TOUCH museums!

After we finished home schooling today we decided to head to a FREE museum in downtown Colorado Springs. The kids were super excited to go to this Pioneer museum because they knew they were going to be allowed to TOUCH things, and it be okay!! I love being able to go places where I can let my children freely explore and touch whatever it is their little hearts desire. I feel it’s a huge part of learning! Plus, it allows me to be able to relax and actually enjoy my time at a place with my children. I don’t have to be mad at my children, for simply acting like a child. I don’t have to be stressed out thinking we are bothering people or doing something that is wrong. I want to ENJOY my time with them. I hate it when I feel I am crushing my child’s spirit simply because they are wanting to touch and manipulate things with their hands. It’s a huge win-win finding places where they encourage hands on experiences! My kids are having a blast and I am loving every minute with them, creating these beautiful memories. Kids are going to be kids, they want to touch, jump, bounce and explore. Their minds are always so busy thinking, creating, imagining….they need to be able to just TOUCH this amazing world around them. So let’s let them be kids and embrace these times! Today was an amazing day going out to this museum with my kids. Everyone left happy! I would love to know what your favorite hands on museums are because they are our favorite! So please share with us! 🙂

P.s. They did have a few things that were roped off like this awesome, really old car. It was on display just to be looked at and admired. Well, we lost Kanyon for a few moments but dont worry we found him buckled in the seat of this off limits, do not touch, vehicle!! He had the biggest smile on his face, he was oh so proud of himself. I quickly scanned left to right hoping nobody saw as we grabbed him out of the car. Poor guy didn’t understand, he thought he was about to race! 🙂 I thought it was too funny. Kids definitely keep us entertained that is FOR SURE!

  1. I hope you go to the Garden of the Gods. The kids will love it. When there, stop at the Museum/Restaurant. Sit outside and enjoy the view. Sit at the left of the building. If you are quiet, some elk just might come near you.

A truly great area to visit, small towns nearby.

  2. You probably know this but local “nature centers” usually have hands on displays. Hopefully you visited the one at Roaring River when you were there. We live near there and we’re taking a drive and saw your RV. Our Joplin Conservation area has a hands on area. Enjoy!

  3. Our family bought us an affiliate pass for a ton of museums in the US. We just did a two month trip west and were able to visit 8 museums along our route. One of them we went back a second day because there was so much to do. (It’s in San Antonio and it’s literally called the DoSeum, incredible.) I recommend that pass.
