From our very first interview with Fox News, when they asked where we were most excited about seeing, my husband said the Redwoods! Now I completely understand why he was super excited and anxious to get here. I could stay here forever, it is that spectacular. This is the place I know we will be talking about for the rest of our lives.
To tell you the truth, I woke up not in the best of moods. I wasn’t exactly thrilled to go hiking but I am glad I did. As soon as we entered the forest, everything in me changed. Suddenly my mind and heart were at peace. Any negative emotion I had were gone and all the weight I felt that day was lifted off my shoulders. It was as if I wanted to take off my shoes and drop to my knees. I could sense God’s presence all around us. It was obvious my husband and children felt it too by their actions and the expressions on their faces.
The lady at the visitor told me that people come here from all over the world just to sit and pray. Boy did I believe it because I felt it! I was fighting back tears at some points during our hikes because I was in absolute awe and wonder. The intricate and magnificent beauty that was all around us was overwhelming. There was so much to admire at every twist and turn. Bridges, creeks, plants, wildlife and of course the giant trees. I kept saying to our children “Look at God’s creation, look at what our awesome God did for us to enjoy…”
I have been really struggling lately with missing my brothers. Today, as we walked around, I felt God was ever so near to me, as if he was holding my hand. I was able to walk and pour out my heart to him. I felt his overwhelming love pouring down on me and it was amazing. I am very thankful to God for today because I really needed it.
Thousands upon thousands of people have prayed in these forests, you will feel it and you will leave a different person from when you walk in! This place should be on everyone’s bucket list as it is by far one of the most spiritual, peaceful, gorgeous and breathtaking places you will ever visit!
