We had the opportunity to take the kids skiing/snowboarding here in Colorado. When we realized we were only 2.5 hours away from the local ski resort, we knew we just had to do it! Being from Florida, we do not get these chances very often. I knew going there with all 6 kids would be a whole lot of fun but also exhausting!! Fun for the kids….exhausting for us. 🙂
Ricky and my brother Nathan first took Kaleb, Alison and Keenan on the bunny slope to teach them how to ski. Kaleb had already been skiing in previous years so it didn’t take but one run for him to remember! Alison and Keenan did well it just took a little longer to get the hang of it. Alison got pretty upset and emotional a few times thinking she was never going to figure it out. Daddy was right there beside her to coach, encourage and cheer her on.
I loved seeing their sweet faces skiing down the hill, feeling so proud of themselves!! Kaleb, Mr. Independent, thought he was something else and took the ski lift up to the higher runs, which he went down at least 20 times!
I stayed at the lodge with Lyla, Kanyon and Mishka. We were able to watch the kids skiing down the slope while we played in the snow. It is such a good feeling knowing we have the time to just relax and enjoy every minute of our day. Slowing down and taking time to watch these cute kids make snow angels was priceless! They could of played in the snow for hours upon hours. Yes, it was obvious we were from Florida because we were the only ones making snow angels! It is okay to eat yellow snow right? 😉
When we got cold we went inside and ate yummy nachos to pass the time. After a few hours of me keeping the little ones entertained, I was ready for a nap!! BUT my husband came inside and told me I had no choice but to snowboard with him. My brother switched out with me to watch the kids. I hadn’t been snowboarding in years due to me always being pregnant or having a newborn attached to me. I am glad my husband made me do it because IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!
It was such a great feeling to let go of my mommy responsibilities and enjoy myself, even if it was just for a little bit. I’m learning that my kids will be just fine and they will and can survive without me. I’m also learning to take more moments for myself like I did to go snowboarding. We all had such a good time at Monarch Mountain. God answered our children’s prayer when they asked for it to please snow. Shortly before we left, the snow began to fall and what a beautiful sight it was! If you could of seen these kids faces! They danced around in it, filled with pure JOY. Thank you God for being such an awesome God. 🙂
We are loving this SIMPLE LIFE! 🙂
