First let me tell you a little bit about the RV we purchased. We got an amazing deal on a 1999 Fleetwood Southwind 34N with 49k miles on it for $18,000.00. At first I was really nervous about spending that much on a vehicle because we have NEVER spent that much on one before. Then my husband Ricky had to remind me to think of it as our home, not a vehicle, and getting a home for that price is a great deal! Ricky and I had invested in a piece of property 5 years ago that we used as a rental home and decided to sell it and use the money to purchase our new “home”. This RV comes with 2 slide outs, one in the master bedroom and one in the living room. These slides make a HUGE difference in opening up the space! Everyone that comes aboard to check it out, is amazed at how roomy it does feel. We use to drive a 12 passenger van but quickly realized that it was way to heavy to pull behind our RV (8,500 lbs). Ricky decided to sell both our truck and van and purchase a used 8 passenger Honda Pilot (4,200lbs). Then we needed to purchase a tow dolly to pull our vehicle, known as the toad. We were excited to find a Tow Master with electric brakes off of Craigslist in a nearby city. Now we have the perfect set up to hit the road! In my next post I will show you pictures on how we have organized and decorated our new home! This is the simple life 🙂 I would love to here about what you travel in with your families so please comment below!
